Eric Chavel of LATTC is the 2007 Allen H. Maxwell Award Recepient. .

The Eric Chavez Story…..

Eric graduated from San Gabriel High School in the city of San Gabriel CA. in 1972.  He studied electronics at Los Angeles Trade Technical College in 1974 and received an Associate's Degree from East Los Angeles College in 1976.  He attended California State University Los Angeles and receive a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts in 1979. 

In 1979 Eric taught at Alhambra High School for 6 years and coached the Varsity Soccer Team.  At the same time Eric Chavez opened a TV repair shop that is still in business.  In 1984 he began teaching at Los Angeles Trade Tech College.

In 2000, Eric received the Teacher of the Year award.

To this date Eric works in industry as an electronics consultant.

He then receives a Master Degree from California State University Los Angeles (2003) in Industrial Studies.

Eric presently is the Electronics Department Chair for Trade Tech.  As department chair revised the electronics programs to meet industry changes and generated more than 24 brand new course outlines and created more than 12 industry skills certificates.

He has taught DC, AC, semiconductors, linear, digital, microprocessors, consumer electronics, and communications.

At present, he also operates a satellite business.

His hobbies: marathon runner and he has done 19 marathons.
