This scholarship has two objectives. The first is to encourage students to pursue a career as an
electronics instructor. The second is to honor Lee Schwartz, a long time member, mentor, and friend to CCEI.
Selection Criteria for Scholarship Award:
The scholarship is open to high school and
college students that meet the following criteria:
Minimum Qualifications:
1. The student must have completed at least one year of electronics course work taught by a CCEI member.
2. The student has a
minimum 3.0 GPA in all electronics courses and a 2.0 GPA overall.
3. The student intends to undertake post-secondary study of electronics technology at a vocational school, a community college, or a four-year
institution.
Each applying student must submit the following documentation:
a. The scholarship application must be filled out by each applicant.
b. A typed essay of 500 words minimum that explains the student's
goals and aspirations including how the CCEI member teacher has encouraged them. It should also explain how the funds will be used and why they feel they deserve the scholarship.
c. Three letters of
recommendation. One from a CCEI member teacher who has taught the applicant for at least one year, one from a counselor or academic advisor at the school that can verify the applicant's scholastic accomplishments,
and one from an individual that knows the applicant personally.
The documents must be returned to the CCEI Scholarship Committee via surface or electronic mail and be postmarked on or before the final application
date.
Award Amount:
An award of $500 will be given to one qualifying student per year and will be dispersed to that student's selected institution to ensure that the funding is applied towards
post-secondary education. Enrollment verification is required as proof of scholarship eligibility.
Determining the Winner:
A Scholarship Committee, appointed by the CCEI President and approved by
the CCEI Executive Board, would determine the scholarship award so that the money is available to the student at the beginning of the next academic year. Lee Schwartz can be involved at all levels of the process,
as he deems appropriate. The selection criteria identified in this document will form the sole basis for awarding the scholarship. All applications that meet the minimum qualifications will be
considered. The Committee will rank order all applicants. To protect CCEI and the individual members of the Scholarship Committee, all considerations will be confidential and the final award is
non-negotiable.
If the scholarship recipient elects not to enroll in school the following year, the recipient forfeits the scholarship, and the next best candidate is awarded the funds.
