Most CCEI sponsored workshops are one day events with a specific list of objectives and topics. Generally, a successful workshop requires
the support of two different individuals--a workshop host and a workshop content presenter. Before a workshop can be sponsored by CCEI, the workshop host and/or the content provider must present the workshop
idea to the CCEI Executive Board. Need, objectives, scope, date, location, and costs must be detailed for the Board. The Board will then either accept the workshop proposal and sponsor it or reject the
concept and request further refinement.
When planning the workshop, the host and presenter work in unison.
The workshop host functions as the administrator. It is the job of the host to
accomplish the following things:
a. make sure workshop publicity information gets to the newsletter editor and the web site host for dissemination.
b. make all physical plant arrangements
including school plant access, parking, security, rest rooms, outside communications (like a phone), insurance/security bonds, and custodial
c. make all equipment arrangements including access to special
equipment such as computers, etchers, machinery, test equipment, Internet link, A-V equipment, and tools
d. make all food arrangements including snacks, drinks, and lunch (it is recommended that lunch be
at the workshop site to eliminate wasted travel time)
e. arrange for registration on-site, welcome the participants, introduce the presenter, help facilitate the presentation of the material, call the
break for lunch, and close the workshop with a round of thanks for the presenter
f. deal with the CCEI Treasurer with any costs or expenses incurred and any registration funds collected on-site
g.
write a thank you letter, on behalf of CCEI, to the content presenter and his/her immediate supervisor and write a short Workshop Summary article for inclusion in the next CCEI Newsletter (send via E-mail for
editor Bob Hoskins)
